Experience:
• Three (3) years or more in Healthcare Accounting role is preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, verbal and written communication skills and customer service.

Education:
• Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in business management, accounting, or finance preferred.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Position Summary:

Responsible for accounting duties associated with the general ledger, preparing monthly journal entries and G/L account reconciliations, preparing monthly reports as needed for the Controller and/or CEO.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work under the supervision of the Controller
• Compile and distribute the Daily Monitor report.
• Perform full cycle general accounting duties.
• Calculate monthly accounts receivable reserving and prepare general journal entries.
• Track Medicare bad debts for compliance and reporting.
• Track Charity for compliance and reporting.
• Act as backup for Payroll processing.
• Reconcile bank accounts in a timely basis each month.
• Calculate and record capital leases and depreciation on property, plant, and equipment.
• Ensure proper recording and account distribution of payroll and payroll-related expenses.
• Ensure accuracy in the general ledger by reconciling accounts monthly.
• Assist with grant applications and grant reporting.
• Prepare draft for monthly Financial Statements and notes to financial statements for the Controller to review and edit.
• Work with Controller in preparing files for external auditors.
• Work with Controller in preparing cost report information.
• Work with Controller in preparing budgets and providing monthly budget reports.
• Subject to irregular hours.
• May be required to wear personal protective equipment as directed.
• Follow infection control and isolation guidelines.
• Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
• Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
• Professional, friendly attitude.
• Working knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations.
• Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given and standard accepted practices.

Physical Requirements:

The Staff Accountant must have the ability to move around freely, walk and stand for long periods of time; use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired; use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls; bend or twist their body; understand the speech of another person and speak clearly so listeners can understand;

and see details of objects that are less than a few feet away and at a distance.
