Overview
The Staff Accountant is a mid-level position assisting and supporting the Office of Fiscal Affairs (Accounting and Finance) with limited supervision. The job responsibilities and performance are to maintain the accounting records of the College in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Responsibilities
• Assist in the preparation of monthly bank reconciliations
• Assist in maintaining general ledger through analyzing balances, reviewing transactions, and reconciling
• Prepare/Review schedules, reconciliations and journal entries for month-end and year-end closes
• Assist in posting journal entries into the integrated enterprise financial system
• Assist in activities associated with monthly and year-end financial closing
• Assist with preparation of annual financial audits which includes the A-133 and 403b audits
• Assist with maintaining digitized processes and documents
• Organize and maintain records, reports, and files
• Become certified in applicable enterprise financial modules
• Provide customer-oriented service to faculty, staff, students, parents, and other internal and external constituents
• Display the highest ethical and professional behavior in working with internal and external constituents
• Other duties as required and assigned
• Qualifications
• A bachelor's degree in business and/or accounting is required
• Skilled in using Microsoft Office products with an emphasis on Excel and/or spreadsheet development and analysis
• Experience with ERP systems and the willingness and ability to master new software systems
• Strong financial analysis skills and excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in relation to confidential and proprietary information
• High initiative and ability to work independently on assigned projects
