Computer Lab Assistant

The Computer Lab Assistant is responsible for maintaining and supporting the day-to-day operations of the computer lab. This role involves assisting students and staff with technical issues, managing lab resources, and ensuring a productive and efficient environment. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for helping others.

Key Responsibilities:
• Technical Support: Provide assistance to students and staff with software and hardware issues. Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems in a timely manner.
• Lab Maintenance: Ensure that all computer equipment is functioning properly. Perform regular maintenance and updates on lab computers and peripherals.
• Resource Management: Monitor and manage lab resources, including computers, printers, and software. Report any equipment malfunctions or needs for repair.
• User Assistance: Help users with software applications, internet access, and other computer-related tasks. Offer guidance on using lab equipment effectively.
• Security and Compliance: Ensure that lab policies and procedures are followed. Monitor lab activity to maintain a secure and respectful environment.
• Training and Orientation: Assist in training new users on lab procedures and software. Conduct orientations for new students or staff on how to use lab resources.
• Documentation: Maintain records of lab usage, equipment inventory, and service requests. Prepare reports as needed for lab management.
• Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by addressing user concerns and feedback promptly and professionally.

Qualifications:
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in computer science or a related field is preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience in a technical support role or computer lab environment is a plus.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with various operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and common software applications. Familiarity with hardware troubleshooting.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals and maintain a positive and professional attitude.

Work Environment:
• The Computer Lab Assistant will work primarily in a computer lab environment. Some lifting of equipment and standing for extended periods may be required.
