Job Description

As a HR Business Partner, you will be joining a cohesive high performing HR unit within a broader team containing L&D, Recruitment and People Systems functions that are well regarded within the business. As a team we take our work seriously but enjoy what we do.

This 2-year parental leave position will be based in Tomago (Newcastle) NSW. You will be a proactive and autonomous business partner tasked with supporting our multi-award-winning engineering, manufacturing and services operations throughout Australia that operate within a range of market sectors including renewables, energy, infrastructure and mining.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

You will be tasked with maintaining and expanding the successful HR Business Partner model through delivering quality strategic initiatives, tactical advice and transactional services. Central to this will be supporting our Leaders in achieving their business objectives through optimal employee engagement, performance and behaviour.

Some core functions will include:

Full suite generalist HR support
Lead key annual HR programs (ie: workforce planning, workforce engagement, succession planning, performance appraisals)
IR Management (including EA negotiations, workforce restructuring and other highly consultative programs)
Grievance management, workplace investigations, counselling/performance management
Policy and process development, implementation and compliance
Specialised stakeholder input into People/HR systems and practices
Organisational design and change management
What success looks like:

Your customers come to you as a ‘one stop shop’ for HR/People needs and strategic involvement
Your advice is viewed as professional, practical and useful
Your businesses can show year on year improvement in relation to employee engagement, retention and other core people analytics
Successful project management of People/HR projects and programs
Elevation of our Leaders in their people management knowledge and competence
YOU’LL NEED THESE TO SUCCEED:

Significant experience in successfully servicing and supporting your customers in a business partnering model (ideally in an industrial/manufacturing setting)
Strong knowledge and application of Industrial Relations legislation
Previous experience in IR/ER matters including negotiation and interpretation of EAs and awards
Advanced communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal)
Strong negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders, ensuring successful relationships are developed and maintained
Ability to work well within a team and autonomously whilst owning your allocated businesses needs
Tertiary qualifications within Human Resources or relevant field, or equivalent relevant experience
