Job description
Responsibilities:
- Stay updated with the latest trends, product ideas, colours, prints, fabrics, and styling.
- Develop collection designs in line with target costs, including sketches, illustrations, and graphics.
- Create line sheets based on current trends, incorporating appropriate design, color, and prints.
- Maintain line sheets for seasonal range plans, ensuring alignment with assortment planning and buying requirements.
- Apply your skills in pattern making to create precise and effective patterns that bring your designs to life.
- Manage garment construction, ensuring high-quality finishing and attention to detail.
- Create detailed tech packs that accurately illustrate design and construction details.
- Collaborate with Buying and Sourcing teams for effective design development.
- Drive and manage effective fit sessions.
- Follow up on and approve fabric, print, and surface designs, including travel to factories and new vendors.
- Execute tasks in a timely manner according to the seasonal calendar deadlines.
- Maintain and improve product quality by addressing issues at the ground level, including fabric, fit, wash, and workmanship.
- Collate and present trend overviews.
- Create Mood-boards, Techpacks, Graphics, Artworks and Trims for seasonal and QTM collections.
- Must communicate capacity and price requirements to meet line margin and delivery requirements.
- Must be able to provide alternatives to merchandising/design teammates to meet commercial requirements at the most competitive cost. Identify and enable opportunities to leverage library of components, fits, and sources.
- “Go To Market” Accountability: Responsible for accurately tracking adoption rates, delivery of proto/ shoot/catalogue/PP samples to meet required targets. Is accountable for driving team to meet GTM deadlines.
- Uses communication and negotiation skills to influence Design and buying/Merchandising partners to achieve GTM milestones.
- Analyse and calculate costs of procurement and suggest methods to decrease expenditure.
- Skilled in CorelDRAW, CAD, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop, adept at aligning designs with brand identity.
Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in Fashion and Textile.
- Degree in Design from NIFT, Pearl, or equivalent from International Institute
- Experienced Design Manager proficient in Western wear for brands.
- Experience in both Fast and Slow Fashion.
- Naturally creative, resourceful, and hands-on.
- Agile, flexible, and adaptive in a dynamic work environment.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Quick and efficient in design research and tech pack creation.
- High-level aesthetic and creative ability with a strong understanding of women's and men's fashion.
- Strong knowledge of fabrics, fits, and print techniques.
- Highly organised and detail-oriented.
- Good communication skills and the ability to articulate ideas clearly.
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse team.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and calendars.
- High proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
