$30.++ per hour, (60% of Band A + 25% casual loading)

We are offering this opportunity to students currently enrolled at university, either undergraduate or postgraduate, in or approaching their final year of studies in an Environmental discipline.

As a summer intern at Hume City Council, you will work on a wide range of projects that will help Council adapt to climate change and help shape climate action approaches.

What you’ll be doing:

Supporting the development and implementation of climate adaptation and embedded emissions reduction projects through research and completion of identified tasks.
Developing staff education materials and presentations to support organisation wide implementation of climate adaptive approaches.
Researching and preparing reports on issues relating to a sustainable environment and making recommendations for further work, particularly with relation to climate change adaptation.
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:

Knowledge, experience and interest in environmental issues, particularly climate adaptation and sustainable procurement in relation to embedded emissions.
The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form, with a broad range of stakeholders.
The ability to undertake assigned tasks including research and investigations to a high standard
Data analysis and evaluation skills
An understanding of sustainability and environmental issues
Liaise and develop cooperative working relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate effective outcomes.
