Responsibilities
In conjunction with the registered nurse, ensures that all required items (implants and supplies) are in place prior to scheduled operative cases
Assists in selecting and assembling instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures utilizing Universal Precautions; maintains aseptic techniques (gowning, gloving, surgical scrub, and OR suite traffic control)
Responsible for the maintenance of equipment and supplies and ensures proper protection when transporting to sterile processing
Assists in transporting patients, case carts and equipment prior to and after completion of each surgical case
Participates in OR suite turn around by assisting in cleaning and case cart management (spraying of enzymatic solution) between surgical procedures
Ensures the proper handling of specimens and cultures in accordance with hospital procedures and best practices
Demonstrates ability to deliver safe and accurate care to patients under the direct supervision of the registered nurse/physician
