React Software Engineer

Location: Belfast or London

Primary Purpose of the Role:

My client specialise in product design, strategy, and software development. As a developer in this role, you will be responsible for developing high-quality solutions within a dynamic team environment. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you'll need to make sound, reasoned decisions in a fast-paced setting. You'll also work closely with clients, collaborating on technical designs, advising on estimated effort, and understanding the technical implications of user stories and user journeys. You’ll have the opportunity to mentor and share knowledge with your team, while continuously learning about new technologies and approaches. This role offers significant room for growth and development.

You Are:
• Proficient in designing, building, testing, and maintaining modern applications.
• Skilled in applying best practices and patterns for coding and scalability.
• Knowledgeable in implementing security best practices.
• Resourceful and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership.

You Have:
• Proven experience in testing.
• A strong appreciation for performance optimization.
• The ability to clearly communicate technical designs in conversations, presentations, and documentation.
• Experience explaining non-functional concerns to clients and incorporating these into technical designs.
• Expertise in technical estimation.

Essential Requirements:
• Strong knowledge of React.
• Familiarity with modern frontend development and experience in at least 3 of the following:
• Vanilla JavaScript (including ES6+)
• Redux
• React Router
• Tanstack
• Next.js
• React Query
• React Native
• TypeScript
• Mobile-first development and responsive design
• Ability to work well in a team and with minimal supervision.

Desirable Requirements:
• Experience with Vue/Nuxt.
• Understanding of accessibility and the importance of semantic markup.
• Experience balancing technical decisions with meeting user needs within commercial constraints.
• Ability to define well-scoped solutions from customer specifications by asking the right questions.
• Experience with CI/CD techniques.
• AWS or Kubernetes experience.
