Qualifications
A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Legal Secretary in a law firm or legal department
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to quickly learn other software systems
Exceptional typing skills with an emphasis on speed and accuracy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
Knowledge of legal terminology and principles, and the ability to conduct legal research
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response
Experience with legal case management software will be considered an asset

Responsibilities

Drafting and typing legal documents and correspondence, maintaining legal files, managing calendars, and facilitating the meeting of deadlines by keeping multiple agendas and providing timely reminders
Providing high-quality administrative support to a team of lawyers, including managing complex calendars, coordinating meetings, and arranging travel
Proofreading and editing legal documents for accuracy, grammar, punctuation, and spelling
Conducting legal research under the direction of a lawyer, and compiling case study materials
Liaising with clients and legal professionals to schedule meetings, conference calls, and depositions
Maintaining an organized and accessible file system for administrative and legal documents while ensuring all documents are accurately labeled and stored
Preparing and processing legal documents and papers, such as summonses, subpoenas, complaints, appeals, motions, and pretrial agreements
Organizing and managing all legal correspondence, manage incoming and outgoing mail and faxes, including scanning documents and saving them to the system
