VAT Accountant Retail 6 months

Job description
As a core member of the Finance team you will be responsible for collating both domestic & non-domestic VAT and sales tax returns. As part of this process you will be responsible for ensuring the tax treatment of related transactions is correct in NetSuite, alongside compliant supporting documentation, such as VAT invoices or proof of export. Note that the group currently registered in the following countries: UK, Italy, Netherlands, France, Spain, Switzerland, UAE and 16 US States. This role also supervises a Junior Accountant.

Job Description
• Ensure transactions are processed with correct VAT / US sales tax treatment on all sales and purchases for all jurisdictions where registered
• Review all VAT transactions throughout the month and ensure any corrections required are processed in NetSuite prior to month-end close
• Monthly preparation and submission of UK VAT Return
• Quarterly preparation and submission of UAE VAT Returns (both for UK and UAE entities)
• Monthly preparation and submission of UK VAT Return
• Monthly/quarterly preparation and submission of other EU VAT Returns
• Working with our external agents to ensure the OSS and EU VAT Returns are submitted in accordance with filing frequencies; providing all data and documentation to them by their deadlines
• Preparation and submission of US sales tax returns, (currently 16 states)
• Monitor sales into the US and identify any new States where thresholds have been met and we need to register
• Work with our in-house NetSuite developer to improve the current process of the UK VAT Return
• Work with the Order Management team to ensure shoppers have provided valid VAT receipts to enable reclaim of input VAT
• Work with our Partners to obtain VAT receipts in a timely manner to enable reclaim of input VAT
• Work with our logistics team to ensure we have sufficient export documentation
• Monitor and maintain our PEC email account for our Italian VAT invoices
• Be abreast of changes and updates to VAT regulations in each of the jurisdictions we are registered
• Ensure any updates are communicated to the FinOps team to ensure correct processing, and to the Sales and Order Management teams to ensure sales are correctly charged in accordance with VAT rules

Candidate Profile

Previous experience of preparing and submitting VAT Returns - both UK, EU and overseas (preferably US)

Experience In E-commerce Or Retail Industry Preferred

NetSuite & SuiteTax experience preferred
