Job Description

The Brand Marketing & Strategy Director is a critical role within the busy and highly commercial New Revenue team of Universal Pictures Content Group. The role is responsible for setting global, content, marketing & distribution strategies and deliver overall channel profitability across new revenue projects. This is a unique opportunity to work with talent and influencers to showcase and develop product (channels and platform) in line with consumer trends.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Brand Strategy and Management
• Develop short and long term brand, content and distribution strategies across multiple properties and genres
• Plan and deliver compelling brand campaigns that drives engagement across all channels that meaningfully connects with audiences
• Develop content plan for branded platforms in collaboration with Original Content, Operations & Production team as well as external resource to support where needed.
• Ensure ongoing content is created to deliver on channel strategy / plan and work with all relevant teams to ensure delivery. Teams includes operations, legal, finance, marketing & acquisitions, A&R and development.
• Community strategy and management across all UPCG communities. Building marketing, media and social plans for the platforms
• Forecast and report on performance in collaboration with SCO and Finance Director
• Manage creative assets for brands and channels
• Develop Brand guidelines where relevant
• Partner with Original Content team to manage and recruit talent
• Utilize data and insights from platforms and Insights manager to build strategies and optimize plans
• Be proactive in identifying ideas and opportunities to drive Brand plans forward and adapting to changing dynamics

Project Management
• Act as main point of contact for projects ensuring cross functional collaboration and manage multiple stakeholders ensuring optimal communication, leading regular meetings and manage critical paths as well as budgets
• Manage relationship with internal and external platform operators and 3rd party partners/vendors including technology and service providers
• Put forward ideas for proactive and reactive channel strategy around events and initiatives linked to the channels. Leading regular editorial content meetings; short and long-term planning.
• In building initial project set up phase, work with SCO to develop onboarding plan and timelines helping source partners and specialists where needed. Instil a culture of a start up to drive new revenue projects forward
• Manage approval processes across Brands ensuring all parties understand their roles and timelines

This role will manage an internal direct report as well as resources from 3rd party partners/vendors that forms the project team.

Qualifications

ABOUT YOU: SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) - confident and credible presenter, able to present to large and diverse groups
• Strong influencing skills, able to secure support from stakeholders at all levels. Proven ability to work across functions and influence at all levels of the business; Strong influencing skills at senior level. Comfortable operating in a matrix environment.
• Entrepreneurial attitude and expertise. New business experience preferred. Demonstrates innovation/imagination in approach to content, marketing and distribution
• Good commercial acumen, experience of forecasting and managing P&Ls. ROI conscious with experience of managing budgets effectively.
• Extensive brand marketing experience. Consumer-centric, understands motivations, identifies and utilises market trends to influence planning;
• Excellent creative skills, including significant experience overseeing creation and editing of trailers, TV spots and other related media
• Strong creative eye, able to confidently and effectively set creative briefs and manage creative development independently to deliver great assets that can influence choice and conversion with consumers
• Project management skills, able to prioritise and set a critical path with collaborative approach. Solution orientated, commercially focused and deadline driven.
• Long term & significant relevant content industry & brand management experience with a proven track record of innovation & the ability to operate in a complex creative environment
• Experienced in managing talent and agents
• Up to date knowledge of global media landscape & utilization including media requirements of key platforms
• Understands consumer dynamics and motivations, identifies and analyses trends, and utilises market research to develop and influence strategy
