Job Description

Department Overview:

The Wisconsin Union, often referred to as the "heart and soul" of the University of Wisconsin - Madison, has enhanced the lives of members and visitors since it was founded in 1+07.

Anticipated Hours Per Week
8 or more

Schedule:
• Schedule is created around your class schedule and other commitments. At least 1 weekend shift a week and at least 1 closing shift a week
• Minimum Hour Expectation- 2 or 3 shifts a week. Each shift will be about 4 to 6 hours long
• Unit Hours: 10am- 11pm

Salary/Wage Range:
Hourly $15.00 to $15.00

Position Summary/Job Duties:
• Each role will have an aspect of cashiering and general customer service
• Handling, cooking and preparing food, including meat
• Assisting with food service as needed
• Maintaining a clean work environment
• Duties may also include serving alcohol
• Strada: Making pizza and pasta bowls. You will be using a pizza oven, slicing, and packaging freshly made pizzas and pasta bowls.
• Carte: Build salads and sandwiches to order. This role uses a panini press to cook sandwiches, makes salads, and helps package food items.
• Both Lakefront restaurants work together, so your shifts may be in either Carte or Strada

Qualifications:
• Punctual and reliable
• Ability to work in a team
• Prior food experience helpful, not required
• Requires standing for long periods of time
• Student Status- To be eligible for the Wisconsin Union positions, you must be currently enrolled in a college, university, or highschool (at least 16). It is not permissible to hire a person as a student hourly employee if they are taking credits merely to be eligible for student hourly employment. Review UW Policy 5003- Student Hourly Employment for more information. If school is in break period (summer, spring, winter), applicants must intend to enroll in courses the following semester.
