Cost Accountant

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting or business Administration required
At least two years of experience in cost accounting required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as well as accounting software
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Thorough understanding of accounting procedures
Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with close attention to detail
Ability to manage confidential information
Responsibilities
The Cost Accountant will be responsible for advanced cost accounting analyses for Dairy, Agriculture, and Retail Business Units at Burnett Dairy Cooperative
This includes building the cost study, compare estimated costs to actual costs, and prepare a variety of related budget reports
Gains knowledge on all finished and raw materials utilized by Burnett Dairy and ensures they are established accordingly in the corresponding ERP system
Work with the Management team and Operations to review current Bill of Materials (BOM) and establish new BOM as receipts are developed
Gathers and compiles cost information and maintains database concerning expenses
Coordinate cycle counts of inventory with operational teams and assist with year-end cycle counts(s)
Determines fixed costs such as salaries, rent, and insurance
Predicts, plans, and records variable costs such as purchases of raw material, labor, and operation costs
Reviews and analyzes actual costs to identify inaccuracies
Develop and work with management to establish inventory key metrics
Prepares necessary departmental and company-wide budgeting reports
Reviews, analyzes, and reports actual profit margins
Performs month-end and year-end closings with assistance
Determines and recommends cost-effective solutions
Provides product sample costs for marketing and general accounting

Position Purpose

This is a full-time on-site role for a Cost Accountant at Burnett Dairy Cooperative in Grantsburg, WI. Qualifications

Education/Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or business Administration required.
• At least two years of experience in cost accounting required.
• Certification in cost accounting or related field is a plus
