Job Description

Qualifications
Technical Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
8 years or more experience analyzing and characterizing performance of computer systems including:
Experience configuring software packages such as databases, mail servers, web servers, etc
Experience working on end-user system architecture and performance issues
Knowledge/experience in application development/scripting in one or more of the following - C#/Java/C++/Python
Knowledge of performance benchmarks and some profiling/load testing tools
Knowledge of hardware performance characteristics (storage subsystems, memory subsystems, networks, etc)
Be a hands-on problem solver interested in performance engineering and understanding what makes applications, databases and systems performant and scalable
Love digging deep to find the needle in the haystack to find answers
Be a self-starter with the ability to deliver on time with quality and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Benefits
The pay range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position in Maynard, Massachusetts is $110,000 – 152,000; the pay ultimately offered within the expected range may vary based on business considerations, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education
The position is bonus-eligible, and there are medical, dental, and vision benefits available

Responsibilities
As a senior performance engineer at Stratus you will be an integral part of a world-class engineering team reporting to the Director of Software Engineering
You will be working with new and existing edge and data center products across the Stratus portfolio to ensure the development team meets all performance related metrics and ensure optimal performance
Design, script, configure and run performance tests to validate system performance and stability
Analyze tests results and work with developers to identify performance bottlenecks and development enhancements
Perform root cause analysis of performance issues and work with developers on corrective actions
Provide technical assistance to improve system performance, capacity, reliability and scalability
Track and manage performance issues to resolution
Oversee system performance lifecycle and identify key metrics for performance improvements
Participate and represent performance and scaling needs in product and feature design with developers and product managers
Generate periodic performance reports for management review
Work directly with partners and customers to assist with system architecture design and evaluation to maximize performance and scalability
Perform root cause analysis of performance issues and suggest corrective actions
More on-site time may be required for some tasks or changes to Stratus’ policies

Overview

As a senior performance engineer at Stratus you will be an integral part of a world-class engineering team reporting to the Director of Software Engineering. Location

The role is hybrid remote/on-site requiring 2-day/week on-site presence at Stratus’ Maynard, Massachusetts facility. More on-site time may be required for some tasks or changes to Stratus’ policies.

Compensation & Benefits
