About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has come about for a new centre Cook to join our busy team at BestStart Ponsonby on a fixed term.

We are seeking someone with outstanding time management skills to prepare wholesome and nutritious meals for the children in our centre.

Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work independently are crucial. As part of your role, you will be responsible for weekly food ordering within a generous budget, ensuring delightful meals for a group of 68 children.

As our Centre Cook you will plan, prepare and cook an appetising and culturally varied menu for the children, including morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea. You’ll need to be efficient with your time and have an excellent knowledge of foods that promote good nutrition and healthy eating for our children. 

This is a fixed term part time position working 30 hours Monday-Friday, from the 7/10/24 - 7/4/25

Your working hours will be 7.30am-2pm

Role requirements:

Commit to making a difference in the lives of young learners with a team dedicated to excellence. We are looking for the following:

Knowledge around health and safety in the kitchen and set high standards of hygiene and housekeeping
A passion for cooking and baking
An understanding of allergies and dietary requirements
Be computer literate in order to design menus and place orders each week
The ability to remain within the budgets for ordering food
A passion for promoting healthy eating for young children
