Job Summary:
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Data Engineering Intern to join our team. This role provides the opportunity to work hands-on with advanced data engineering technologies and assist in buildingand optimizing data pipelines, schemas,and models. You will work with data from AWS, Athena, and MySQL and contribute to establishing a robust data infrastructure for business intelligence and analytics.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the design and development of database schemas and fact-dimension models to support data warehousing.
• Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as PySpark and AWS Glue for data integration from various sources like AWS S3, Athena, and MySQL.
• Optimize and automate data pipelines for efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading.
• Collaborate with the team to optimize SQL queries for large-scale data retrieval and ensure efficient performance.
• Use data modeling tools such as Lucidchart, ER/Studio, or DBDesigner to assist with schema and data model visualization.
• Support in managing data warehousing solutions like AWS Redshift, ensuring data is accessible and performant for analysis.
• Contribute to maintaining data quality, governance, and compliance throughout the data lifecycle.
Required Skills and Technologies:
• Strong knowledge of SQL for querying and managing relational databases like
• MySQL and AWS Athena.
• Proficiency in Python for data processing and automation tasks.
• Experience with PySpark for distributed data processing or a willingness to learn quickly.
• Familiarity with ETL tools like AWS Glue and Apache Airflow.
• Understanding of data modeling concepts, including fact-dimension modeling, and experience with tools such as Lucidchart, ER/Studio, or DBDesigner.
• Knowledge of AWS cloud services(S3, Glue, Athena,Redshift) and data warehousing solutions.
• Knowledge of version control tools like Git for code management and collaboration.
Preferred Skills:
Understanding of query optimization and workingwith large datasetsin distributed environments.
Knowledge of data governance practices and ensuring data quality across pipelines.
A growth mindset and the abilityto learn new technologies efficiently.
