Tawa College is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Pasifika Liaison & Support. This part-time role is integral to enhancing the well-being, academic achievement, and cultural inclusion of our Pasifika students.

This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting Pasifika students in their educational journey. Applicants who are registered teachers should detail their experience in secondary education or supporting subject areas in their application. We will also consider applying for a Limited Authority to Teach for the appropriate candidate.

Key responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Deputy Principal for Wellbeing and Belonging.

• Advocate for Pasifika students and their families, including developing a Pasifika Student Council, coordinating fono evenings, and organising Pasifika celebrations.

• Support cultural performance groups and events such as Polyfest.

• Use data from assessments, NCEA results, and well-being surveys to identify strengths and areas for improvement among Pasifika students, making recommendations for targeted interventions.

• Provide pastoral care, including assisting with student behaviour challenges.

Qualifications & skills:

• Strong understanding of Pasifika culture and community.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to analyse data effectively and suggest practical solutions.

• Experience in student support or education is beneficial.

• Commitment to fostering inclusivity and diversity within the school.
