Role: Data Engineer - CockroachDB
• Experience Level: 6 to 10 years
• Location: Toronto, Canada / Kolkata, India / Remote (India)

Role Overview: As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and improving highly resilient and performant central real-time payment infrastructure. You will focus on CockroachDB, ensuring the database-as-a-service (DBaaS) offering remains scalable and consistent, supporting RS Software’s growing customer base and stringent performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
• CockroachDB Architecture:
• Design, build, deploy, test, and administer the orchestration and service architecture for CockroachDB Cloud, the company's database-as-a-service platform.
• Service Reliability:
• Build a reliable, high-quality service architecture that meets the rigorous demands of critical customers and payment systems.
• Collaborative Development:
• Work closely with designers and engineers to develop and implement features that simplify database observability for end-users, improving performance and usability.
• Scalability & Survivability:
• Ensure the DBaaS remains scalable, survivable, and reliable even as the platform experiences rapid growth and expansion.
• Infrastructure Management:
• Manage and oversee infrastructure for cloud observability services, including running internal production systems for CockroachDB.

Required Skills & Competencies:
• Strong expertise in CockroachDB or similar distributed databases.
• Proven experience in designing and deploying cloud-native architectures and distributed systems.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and observability tools.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation, ensuring reliability and scalability of services.
• A track record of building highly available, performant, and resilient systems, ideally in real-time payment environments.
