Job Description

Blue Chip Talent is currently seeking a Battery Cell Characterization Technician to join our team in Irvine CA. In this role, you will support the development and testing of battery cells by ensuring accurate test setups, performing routine maintenance, and troubleshooting equipment issues. You will collaborate with engineers and laboratory staff to maintain a safe and efficient testing environment while contributing to innovative solutions.

Responsibilities:
• Test Setup and Execution:
• Set up battery cells into fixtures and test systems for characterization based on engineering instructions.
• Fabricate test fixtures and harnesses as directed by engineers.
• Register and handle battery cells in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
• Maintenance and Monitoring:
• Perform daily maintenance of ongoing battery lifetime testing.
• Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of cell test equipment.
• Monitor cell test progress and notify engineers of any issues during the testing process.
• Problem-Solving and Communication:
• Work with laboratory equipment manufacturers to troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Develop and document operating procedures.
• Present facility updates and test progress to the engineering team.
• Safety and Compliance:
• Adhere to laboratory maintenance procedures and safety protocols.
• Follow best practices for working with high-voltage equipment and lithium-ion batteries.

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Knowledge:
• Strong troubleshooting skills for tools/hardware using Ethernet/IP, CAN protocols, and other diagnostic methods.
• Hands-on skills with light machine tools for fabricating harnesses and test fixtures.
• Experience with laboratory tools, including multimeters, soldering irons, wire strippers, etc.
• Basic knowledge of electrical circuits and wiring diagrams.
• Creative problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail when handling test samples and troubleshooting setups.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic awareness of safety practices related to high-voltage systems and lithium-ion batteries.
