The CAD Designer will be a key player in supporting the production team, with a strong focus on print development and the understanding of cost structures across different printing techniques, embroidery (emb), and other embellishments such as eyelets. The designer will be responsible for creating pattern repeats, colorways, and executing the print development process while maintaining awareness of costs and production requirements. The role also requires expertise in novelty prints, as well as prints for knitwear, woven fabrics, and outerwear.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and execute print designs for a variety of textile applications, including knitwear, woven fabrics, and outerwear.
· Create pattern repeats, colorways, and mood boards for seasonal print collections.
· Collaborate closely with the design and production teams to ensure seamless print development from concept through to final production.
· Demonstrate a strong understanding of print techniques (screen printing, digital printing, etc.), embroidery (emb), and eyelet embellishments, with a focus on cost-efficiency and production feasibility.
· Develop and maintain an awareness of cost structures associated with different print and embellishment techniques and ensure that designs align with production budgets and timelines.
· Produce and present design concepts, technical drawings, and specification sheets for approval by internal teams and external suppliers.
· Ensure the consistency of prints across various product categories and collections.
· Stay up-to-date with trends and innovations in print design and textile production.
· Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure high-quality output while keeping within cost constraints.
· Maintain and organize the design archives and reference libraries for prints and patterns.
Qualifications & Skills:
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
· 5 plus years of experience in CAD design, preferably within the fashion or textile industry.
· Strong proficiency in CAD software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and other design tools).
· Knowledge of print development and the ability to create intricate patterns and colorways.
· Experience with various fabric types, including knitwear, woven fabrics, and outerwear.
· Solid understanding of print techniques, including screen printing, digital printing, embroidery, and embellishments.
· Strong attention to detail, with an ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
