Wouldn’t it be amazing to come to work and everyday be different? One minute you’re helping a pregnant lady give birth to her baby, the next your outside ED receiving an adult trauma patient from the air ambulance; if this appeals to you then come and join us.

We are increasing our ED workforce to support staff development, patient experience, and a newer designed department.

Are you a children’s nurse looking to expand your skills for the excitement of caring for adult and children in the emergency department?

Are you a Registered Mental Health Nurse and want to widen your skills to learn to care for all patients in the emergency department?

If all this sounds like you then we would love to welcome you to join Team ED.

We are no longer able to accept applications from newly qualified staff. Applicants will need 6 months' registered experience, previous applications need not apply.

We are a very busy major trauma unit, covering a very diverse population we are looking for self-motivated nurses to help take the department forward – you must be committed, flexible and approachable

You will be supported by diverse and innovative Senior Nursing Team along with a team of Emergency Nurse Practitioners, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and Practice Educators. We have a team of very supportive Consultants whom we work alongside every day.

Our Emergency Department at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital provides care for both adults and children who attend with serious illness or injury. Due to our large catchment area, we currently provide for approximately 154,000 attendees per year. The department has an 8 bedded resuscitation and 43 major cubicles.

The department is classified as a trauma unit and we have a purpose built helipad onsite that will bring our most serious patients to the department via North West Air Ambulance.

We have a new, state of the art staff facility for staff changing with access to a shower as well as a new staff room, education room and wellbeing retreat for all staff.

We also have 2 Urgent Care Centres that are part of the emergency department and 2 Minor Injuries Units which are located at Accrington Victoria Hospital and Rossendale Health Centre.
