Are you passionate about open-fire cooking and ready to take the next step in your kitchen career? The Aviary Hotel is seeking a talented and motivated Junior Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team on a full-time basis, with room to grow into a larger role as we expand.
At The Aviary Hotel, we offer a refined yet vibrant dining experience, known for our focus on fresh ingredients, bold flavours, and live-fire cooking. Central to our kitchen is the Parrilla charcoal grill, where we craft dishes with depth, smoke, and authentic character. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, lead by example, and are passionate about open-flame techniques, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations
- Take an active role in preparing dishes over our Parrilla charcoal grill
- Supervise and support junior kitchen staff
- Ensure that food quality, presentation, and consistency meet our high standards
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and hygiene protocols
- Contribute ideas for seasonal menus and grill-focused specials
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2–3 years of kitchen experience, including at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role
- Hands-on experience or strong interest in live-fire cooking and charcoal grilling
- Strong foundation in kitchen operations and cooking techniques
- Passion for food, attention to detail, and a positive attitude
- Culinary diploma or equivalent certification preferred but not needed
