About This Role

Work where it matters most, achieve what matters more.

Be part of a team where passion meets purpose, as we work together where the challenge is greatest to change the lives and build the futures of children and young people.

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of autistic pupils? Do you want to be part of a dedicated and supportive team committed to delivering high-quality education in an autism-specific environment? If so, we would love to hear from you!

As a Teaching Assistant at Ormiston Kensington Queensmill Academy, you will play a vital role in our teaching and learning team, supporting autistic pupils to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You will assist in the delivery of high-quality education while fostering a nurturing and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities;
• Support class teachers in organising activities, resources, and materials tailored for autistic pupils.
• Build strong relationships with pupils and their families, acting as a positive role model.
• Assist with maintaining a safe and organised learning environment.
• Support pupils' understanding of instructions and tasks.
• Respond to pupils' welfare needs, including personal care and medical requirements where appropriate.
• Accompany pupils on off-site visits, including swimming trips.
• Assist with playground duties and supervision of pupils.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school safeguarding policies.
• Participate in relevant training to enhance knowledge and skills in autism support.

Ormiston Kensington Queensmill Academy is a school for children and young people with autism and other specific learning difficulties. We are extremely fortunate to be based in purpose-built facilities designed to deliver a spacious, low-arousal learning environment with excellent autism-specific facilities and resources, allowing us to manage our young people’s needs effectively. At Ormiston Kensington Queensmill Academy, we celebrate the unique strengths and individuality of our pupils. By placing them at the heart of everything we do, we empower autistic children and young people to flourish through tailored support in social communication and sensory/emotional regulation.

Ormiston Kensington Queensmill Academy is a fun and rewarding place to work and happiness and wellbeing is an absolute priority for both our young people and staff team. We are looking to appoint someone who is interested in developing their knowledge of Autism and is passionate about supporting autistic pupils to access education both within the school and in the local community.

As a staff member, you will benefit from a highly collaborative, multi-professional environment, working alongside in-house therapists, parents, and external professionals. We are committed to providing extensive training, ensuring you are equipped to deliver the highest standard of support.

• Working for a Trust nationally recognised for its impact on disadvantaged children – a rewarding, stimulating career where staff are challenged to be the best they can be, for the pupils we are proud to serve
• Being part of a team and community where you belong – receiving bespoke and holistic support from a well-resourced and ambitious network of experts and professionals that work at the heart of communities
• A supportive environment to grow your career – an extensive professional development programme, alongside flexible working arrangements and generous benefits
