Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Lab Technician to join our team. As a Lab Technician, you will be responsible for performing various laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses to assist in medical diagnosis, research, and treatment. Key Responsibilities:
Conducting Tests and Analyses:
Perform a variety of laboratory tests, including blood tests, urinalysis, microbiological cultures, and chemical analyses, following standard operating procedures.
Prepare specimens, samples, and reagents for testing, ensuring accuracy and adherence to protocols.
Operate laboratory equipment and instruments, such as microscopes, centrifuges, spectrophotometers, and automated analyzers, with precision and safety.
Recording and Analyzing Data:
Record test results, observations, and data accurately and systematically in laboratory information systems or paper records.
Analyze and interpret test results, identifying abnormalities, trends, and potential indicators of disease or dysfunction.
Prepare reports, summaries, and presentations of laboratory findings for healthcare professionals, researchers, and other stakeholders.
Quality Control and Assurance:
Monitor and maintain quality control measures to ensure accuracy, reliability, and consistency of laboratory tests and analyses.
Calibrate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed, following established procedures and protocols.
Participate in proficiency testing programs and quality assurance activities to uphold laboratory accreditation standards.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to safety protocols, guidelines, and regulations to prevent accidents, contamination, and exposure to hazardous materials.
Handle biohazardous materials, chemicals, and specimens with caution and proper disposal procedures.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory environment, including workspaces, equipment, and storage areas.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, physicians, and researchers to coordinate laboratory testing and support patient care.
Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and external stakeholders to exchange information, discuss results, and address concerns.
Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and continuing education programs to stay updated on new techniques, technologies, and best practices in laboratory science.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field; certification or licensure may be required depending on jurisdiction.
Proven experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably in a healthcare or clinical laboratory.
Knowledge of laboratory techniques, procedures, and instrumentation, including proficiency in microscopy, pipetting, and data analysis.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in computer applications and laboratory information systems for data entry, analysis, and reporting.
Commitment to quality, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory standards and ethical principles.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
