Pay Range: $20.00-$25.00, depending on education and experience
Pay Frequency: Bi-Weekly
Job Description:
The Lab Technician/Research Assistant is responsible for following research protocols for ongoing research studies at the research site including blood sample processing.
PBMC processing experience is a requirement for this position.
We are ideally seeking a lab technician who is hoping to join the clinical research field and wants to learn and expand their capabilities.
They will support the research leads and perform a variety of duties related to research including scheduling, screening, consenting, and enrolling patients, completing blood draws, watching vaccine preparation, collection of case report form data, communicating with the research team and maintaining research files.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Research Activities, including but not limited to:
Complete all required research training including, but not limited to, Good Clinical Practice training, Human Subjects Protection training, and IATA hazardous goods shipping training.
Review all study materials and participate in study-specific training sessions.
Organize and maintain regulatory binders based on study requirements.
Organize study supplies as they are received.
Perform regular inventory of study supplies to ensure adequate stock.
Contact potential patients via phone and email to screen for eligibility and schedule for study visits.
Track patient status through screening and follow-up.
Determine eligibility status and consent eligible patients according to Good Clinical Practice guidelines.
Complete blood draws (if possible) and specimen processing (including PBMC processing).
Collect study data and enter it into electronic data capture system.
Ensure that research protocols are followed.
Communicate with central research team about study status.
Additional research activities as required per protocol.
Education & Experience:
PBMC processing experience is a requirement.
Research experience and/or knowledge an asset.
Previous experience in a clinical/medical setting and knowledge of medications/medical terminology is an asset.
Phlebotomy capabilities is an asset.
Strong organizational and time-management skills required.

Requires frequent walking primarily on a level surface throughout the workday.
Requires reaching continually throughout the workday (mouse, keyboard, telephone).

Work Hours:
Typical schedule will be 8 hours per day during regular clinic hours with some evening work required.
