Responsibilities
As an L&D RN at a DirectShifts facility in NYC, you will play a vital role in caring for women throughout the labor and delivery process
You will work collaboratively with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, other nurses, and healthcare professionals to ensure optimal outcomes for mothers and newborns
Assess and monitor laboring mothers, interpret fetal heart monitors, and identify potential complications
Assist with pain management techniques, provide emotional support, and advocate for patient needs
Prepare the delivery room and birthing environment
Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries, following sterile procedures and protocols
Care for newborns immediately after delivery, perform assessments, and initiate breastfeeding
Educate and support mothers on postpartum care and newborn feeding
Document the entire labor and delivery process meticulously
Maintain a safe and sterile environment for mothers and newborns in the delivery suite
Adhere to all hospital policies and L&D care protocols

About the Role:

As an L&D RN at a DirectShifts facility in NYC, you will play a vital role in caring for women throughout the labor and delivery process. You will work collaboratively with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, other nurses, and healthcare professionals to ensure optimal outcomes for mothers and newborns.

Responsibilities:
• Assess and monitor laboring mothers, interpret fetal heart monitors, and identify potential complications.

Qualifications:
• Active and unrestricted New York State RN License.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in labor and delivery nursing (preferred).
• Strong understanding of female reproductive health, labor stages, and delivery procedures.
• BLS certification (Basic Life Support) is mandatory. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred.
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in a high-pressure environment.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, prioritize tasks efficiently, and remain calm under pressure.
• Compassionate and patient-centered approach with a focus on patient advocacy and emotional support.
