The Infrastructure Department is comprised of five Branches, including three Design and Construction Branches, the Wastewater Operations Branch, and the Water Operations Branch. Key responsibilities include the operation and maintenance of the City’s environmental infrastructure and systems including water supply, treatment, and distribution; wastewater collection and treatment; and the design and construction of the City's infrastructure including treatment plants, pump stations, roads, sewers, watermains, sidewalks, stormwater management ponds, water towers and reservoirs, etc.
The Laboratory Technician (Wastewater) position is involved in a variety of laboratory-based investigations within biological, chemical and physical areas. The testing, measuring, recording and analyzing of results provide the required technical support to operate the diverse treatment processes of the facilities as well as maintain all regulatory requirements whilst adhering to correct procedures and health and safety guidelines.

Education (degree/diploma/certifications)
Three (3) year College Diploma in Chemistry or Bacteriology
Standard First Aid/CPR

Experience
Two (2) years of laboratory experience performing chemical and bacteriological analysis, including six (6) months of experience on a water/wastewater treatment laboratory.
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
Computer literacy utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and database software) as well as the internet. Good working knowledge of LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System)
Excellent organizing, record keeping, written and oral communication skills.
Conditions of Employment
Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License in good standing
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check*
