We are seeking a highly skilled contract lawyer to join our team at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP. As a member of our alternative-track attorney and staffing program, DWTSurge, you will work closely with experienced lawyers to prepare and prosecute patent applications. This position offers a unique opportunity for attorneys who want to practice law in a flexible manner while still contributing to the success of our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective patent strategies in collaboration with lawyers and other professionals
- Conduct research and analysis to stay current on the latest developments in patent law
- Communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders
- Prepare and file patent applications with the USPTO
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution, either in-house or as outside counsel
- Residency and active bar admission in one of the following states: AK, AZ, CA, CT, FL, GA, IL, MD, MN, MT, NJ, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, TN, TX, VA, WA, and WDC
- A BS degree and industry experience in electrical engineering, computer science, or related field
- Registered to practice before the USPTO
- Technical experience with cloud computing, cryptography, information security, robotics, or blockchain is desirable
