Lawyer (Unrestricted)
4-Day Week | Leadership Pathway | Flexible Work
StandTo Legal - Perth WA
Full-time (36 hours across 4 days)
Run your own files. Build something meaningful. Step into leadership. Financial support for professional development.
StandTo Legal is a growing Perth-based practice focused on clear advice, strong advocacy, and client-focused legal service.
A significant part of our work supports current and former ADF members and their families, often at vulnerable points in their lives. We are equally committed to supporting non-veteran clients across a broad practice mix including commercial law, estate planning and administration, and family law.
We’re looking for an unrestricted lawyer who is ready to take ownership of their files, deepen their technical skills, and grow into a clear progression pathway that includes mentoring and leadership opportunities as the practice grows.
The Role
You will have real autonomy and responsibility, including:
Running your own matters from start to finish, with support available when needed
Managing client relationships and providing clear, practical advice
Drafting and negotiating documents across your practice areas
Contributing to and building systems, templates, and processes as the practice grows
Supporting and contributing to team development, including mentoring junior staff where appropriate
Helping shape the culture and client experience of a growing firm
Matters May Include:
Veterans-related matters - client conferences, evidence review, drafting, advice, and claims-related work where relevant
Commercial matters - contracts, business advice, drafting, and general dispute support depending on experience
Wills and estates - estate planning, probate and administration, with potential disputes exposure depending on skill set
Family law - advice, drafting, negotiations, and procedural court work
The work mix will be tailored to your strengths and interests while maintaining variety and strong professional development.
What We're Looking For
Unrestricted lawyer (admitted in Australia)
Comfortable running matters with appropriate supervision and support
Strong drafting skills and sound professional judgement
A confident communicator who is calm, clear, respectful, and client-focused
Organised, proactive, and able to manage competing deadlines
Values-driven; someone who cares about doing excellent work and helping people
Bonus (not essential):
Experience mentoring or supporting juniors
Interest in business development or practice growth
Exposure to trauma-aware client communication (particularly relevant to veterans work)
Progression & Leadership Pathway
This role is ideal for someone who wants more than just billable hours and a desk.
You will have a clear pathway into:
Senior file carriage
Mentoring and supervision responsibilities
Practice development and leadership opportunities as the team expands
Future pathways aligned with your strengths and interests (e.g. practice lead, training, client strategy, operations)
We value initiative and support people who want to step up.
What You'll Get
4-day work week (36 hours)
Flexible work arrangements and work-from-home options
Autonomy and trust, with support when needed
A genuinely supportive team environment (no ego, no sink-or-swim)
Direct client contact and meaningful work with visible impact
A modern practice approach with practical advice, strong templates, and efficient systems
