As a Lead Database Administrator you will be accountable and responsible for Support, Administer, Manage, Scale and Tune the multi-terabyte Database Systems that will enable S&P Global Market Intelligence to ingest, manage, process and serve-up Market Data Products (Research Content, Pricing, Ratings & Financial Aggregates) as well as our highly transactional and dynamic web based CIQ Pro, CIQ Classic and Risk Solutions Platform. . Execute multiple project plans and performance requirements, ensuring team has appropriate resources to achieve project goals. . Solve highly complex, non-routine problems and determine the best solution through cost/benefit analysis. . Follow processes and operational policies in suggesting new methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. . Own the delivery of medium to large projects where you will contribute directly as an individual and take help of few others in the team. . Manage key database releases for QA, Pre-Production, Production and DR as part of the overall SDLC. . Work with other teams with in operations and peer groups like Development and QA as a lead. . Frequently interact with customers and/or functional peer group managers, involving matters between functional areas. . Work with IT Server Management and other groups and make sure that all events, incidents and problems are resolved as per the SLA. . Establish baselines and improve efficiency and quality of delivery by automating complex routine tasks. . Contribute to best of breed product support tools including run books, monitoring, and knowledge bases to aid in the product support process. . Suggest improvements to current processes and tools and drive the change. . Willing work on 24/7 shifts . Perform database backups/ refreshes in non-prod environments. . Participate 24x7 on call tier 3 support on a weekly rotating schedule . Contribute to process and troubleshooting documentation. . Should be able to support virtualized environment The Impact: . These products rely on data to allow our customers to find the companies, securities and markets they are interested in, to explore the relationships between entities, and to search using public identifiers (CUSIPs, ISINs, SEDOLs, Tickers, etc). This critical backend driven data allow our users to value their portfolios, monitor market moving events, understand their risk and maintain their back office systems. . Help others contribute to the achievement of Database Administration and IT objectives. . Work on issues of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends. What's in it for you: . The team is responsible for ensuring Greater Reliability, High Performance, High Availability and Scalability. . You will work with a global team of intelligent and ambitious professionals recruited from top industries. The team is responsible for the database support, administration, scalability, performance tuning, release and architecture of large-scale data processing, aggregation and retrieval systems. What We are looking for: . We are looking for the kind of person who is not only a roll up the sleeves hard core database technologist, but also a passionate database team member who can lead by example and motivate their peers to excel. Basic Qualifications: . Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering . 6+ years of hands-on large scale database (SQL or NoSQL) administration, support and performance tuning experience . 4+ years of hands-on Elastic Search administration, support and performance tuning experience . Experience with technologies like SQL Server, MySQL, SOLR, Cassandra, and PostgreSQL is a Plus . Experience with leading medium to large projects is a plus. . ITIL V3 Foundation Certified is a plus. . AZURE/AWS/GCP Certified is a plus. Preferred Qualifications: . Excellent hands on experience with Elastic Search, Apache Solr and Tomcat . Excellent hands on experience with Elastic Search, Replication, Optimization and Scalability options . Extensive experience with monitoring, administration, performance tuning, architecture, scalability, and stability. . Good knowledge in Shell Scripting is a must. . Good understanding of Application Performance Monitoring tools like Datadog and AppDynamics or any other such tools is a must. . Should be able troubleshoot problems involving Operating Systems (Linux), Network and Storage (DAS and SAN). . Hands-on experience with SOLR, Cassandra, Mongo, DataLake/Snowflake, Oracle, Oracle RAC, and Oracle Exadata is a huge plus. . Ability to break large complex task into multiple smaller tasks and integrate the outcome of the smaller tasks. . Exceptional follow-up and follow-through skills . Ability to multi-task and manage priorities effectively . Provide mentorship, training and advice to a team . Excellent communication skills, with strong verbal and writing proficiencies.
