As our Lead Estimator, you will be pivotal in providing accurate and timely cost estimates for capital projects within Fonterra's Global Engineering & Technical function. This role is crucial for the strategic planning and financial management of the project portfolio, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with organizational objectives.
Key accountabilities include:
* Estimation Leadership: Lead the estimation function in developing comprehensive cost models for capital projects, ensuring they reflect the scope, scale, and complexity of the work.
* Budget Alignment: Collaborate with project managers and finance teams to align estimates with project budgets and financial forecasts.
* Cost Benchmarking: Conduct industry benchmarking to ensure Fonterra's project costs remain competitive and within market standards.
* Risk Analysis: Perform risk analysis on cost estimates to identify potential financial exposures and develop mitigation strategies.
* Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to gather input and refine a Fonterra wide price book covering project lifecycle. Manage interface with partner QS companies.
* Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in estimation processes, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
* Training & Development: Mentor and develop others to create a culture of learning and professional growth within the team.

You have extensive experience in cost estimation and financial analysis within a technical or engineering environment. You are proficient in using estimation software and tools, and you possess advanced Excel skills. With a strong understanding of engineering and estimating principles, construction methods, and the project lifecycle, you excel in developing accurate cost models and managing complex budgets.
Your excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, combined with a keen eye for detail, enable you to provide precise and reliable financial insights. You are skilled at communicating complex financial information to stakeholders at all levels, ensuring clear understanding and informed decision-making.
