Responsibilities
Responsible for carrying out mate duties aboard the parasail vessel, following the captain’s instructions to the letter
Assist guests boarding vessel, must learn and be able to deliver the safety briefing and equipment orientation
Cordially answer any guest questions or concerns
Also responsible for promoting and selling the various Island activities to guests when not working as mate aboard parasail vessel; assist pier dispatcher in coordinating tour dispatches
In order to provide the highest levels of product and services, additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed
Must be able to provide quality customer service to cruise guests during ship operation days
Ships calling on the island may have up to 7000 cruise guests

Position requires ability to adjust to changing captain’s directions at a moments’ notice, depending upon the needs of the supervisor or other management
Regularly works under outdoor weather conditions and is routinely exposed to the sun, and extreme heat or cold
Works on slippery or wet surfaces
Works in open water and choppy sea conditions from time to time
The incumbent must be able to work in a multi-cultural environment; also, must be able to adjust to changes in assignments, work areas and schedules
The primary function during ship operation days will be to work as mate aboard parasail vessel, following captain’s orders
Recognize and respond appropriately and calmly to emergencies
Have knowledge of proper use of communication systems such as VHF radios, whistles, and flags
Ability to use rescue equipment such as “chute wrangler” parasail deflating device and other safety equipment aboard vessel
Provide excellent customer service to all guests by greeting, answering questions, and providing information concerning the parasail tour and equipment utilized
Meet and greet guests as they board the vessel, assisting them board and find a seat
Ask guests if they would like a PFD and instruct where they are located onboard
Once all guests are seated, deliver a safety briefing, then the parasailing experience orientation, then answer any and all questions that guests might have
Inspect and maintain all parasail gear in top working condition
Maintain parasail boat in Bristol condition, washing boat completely with mild soap and freshwater after every workday
Wash and dry, then stow all parasail equipment
Moor boat in the prescribed manner, with all fenders in place at the end of each working day
Maintain engine compartment in a spotless manner, wiping up any and all oil spills as they are observed and dispose of oily rags in proper manner
Dispose of all trash in the proper receptacles
Assist Captain with equipment inventory on a regular basis
Follow proper procedures for cleaning parasail gear and disinfecting PFDs
Participate in regular trainings/drills
Enforce all aquatic/island company policies
Communicate clearly and directly with employees and guests
Assist in securing parasail vessel and other island equipment during inclement weather
Represent the image of the company and perform all activities in an enthusiastic and professional manner
Perform other related duties as assigned or as directed
The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position
Must be familiar with the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and the SOP’s and carry out the policies and procedures appropriate for his/her position
