The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering within the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences at AUT is seeking to appoint a permanent full-time Lecturer in the area of Power Electronics. Candidates should have a PhD degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with one or more years of postdoctoral experience in academia and/or industry in relevant areas. Preference will be given to candidates with a track record of publishing in top-tier scientific journals; experiences in undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching and project supervision; sound knowledge of power electronics with expertise in power converters, power semiconductors, switching techniques, thermal management, and power quality improvement. Practical experiences with power device characterisation, PCB design and programming controllers for power electronic circuits as well as competency with software packages such as PSIM, LTspice, PLECS, dSPACE and Altium Designer are highly desirable.
The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering currently has academic programmes in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with strong interests in Power, Telecommunications, Control, and Electronic/Embedded System Engineering. As one of four departments within the School, the department also provides service teaching in Mechatronics and Software Engineering. The School currently has over 3000 equivalent full-time students and about 150 permanent academic staff with approximately 200 PhD students.
This position involves conducting high-quality research, teaching and developing academic programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. A successful applicant will be expected to contribute to research and postgraduate supervision in one or more of the above-mentioned areas through her/his specialist field and take a leading role in service teaching.
