As a Logistics Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing various aspects of the logistics and supply chain process to ensure the efficient and timely movement of goods and materials. Your role involves managing inventory, coordinating shipments, optimizing transportation routes, and maintaining communication with suppliers, carriers, and internal stakeholders. The primary objective is to streamline operations, minimize costs, and maximize customer satisfaction through effective logistical strategies.
Key Responsibilities
• Inventory Management:
• Monitor inventory levels and track stock movements to ensure adequate supply.
• Conduct regular audits to verify inventory accuracy and reconcile discrepancies.
• Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams to maintain optimal stock levels.
• Order Processing and Fulfillment:
• Receive, process, and prioritize customer orders in accordance with established procedures.
• Coordinate order fulfillment activities, including picking, packing, and shipping.
• Ensure orders are accurately filled and delivered to customers on time.
• Transportation Coordination:
• Arrange transportation for inbound and outbound shipments, including trucking, air freight, and ocean freight.
• Negotiate rates and contracts with carriers to optimize cost-effectiveness.
• Track shipments in transit and address any issues or delays that may arise.
• Supply Chain Optimization:
• Analyze logistical data to identify opportunities for improving efficiency and reducing costs.
• Implement strategies to streamline processes, such as route optimization and inventory consolidation.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Documentation and Compliance:
• Prepare shipping documents, including bills of lading, export declarations, and customs paperwork.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and international trade regulations.
• Keep abreast of changes in import/export laws and industry standards.
• Communication and Coordination:
• Serve as a primary point of contact for vendors, suppliers, and logistics service providers.
• Communicate with internal stakeholders to coordinate logistics activities and address any concerns or issues.
• Provide regular updates on shipment status and logistics performance metrics.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience in logistics coordination, preferably in a manufacturing, distribution, or retail environment.
• Familiarity with inventory management systems and logistics software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, TMS).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across functional teams.
• Knowledge of transportation regulations, customs procedures, and international trade compliance.
• Certification in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.
