Job Summary

Production support DB2 z/OS DBA

Responsible for all activities related to the administration of DB2 z/OS Version 12 databases throughout the enterprise. The main roles for this position include monitoring, change control, incident troubleshooting, sql code review, database optimization, risk identification and remediation, and process automation.

We are looking for an expert level DBA who is able to solve problems, provide continual recommendations and feedback to management, and has multi-year experience with troubleshooting complex database problems occurring in a 24/7 production environment. You will work collaboratively across the organization providing support to all environments from development up to production.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Consults with Applications Development, DBA Staff, and Technical Support on technical problems, methods, directions and data access methods like SQL, Stored Procedures, Triggers and User Defined Functions.
• Directs and participates with team members in the analysis, development, and delivery of all support work for assigned function(s). Provides mentoring, knowledge, skills transfer and training to staff.
• Work with the DB2 Systems Programmers to review HOLDDATA when DB2 maintenance is applied. Perform validation of DB2 subsystem maintenance as required by the DB2 System Programmers.
• Develops, monitors, and maintains backup and recovery for all databases that have been turned over to the production support team.
• Provides requirement analysis and evaluations for proposed data management software products and solutions. Develops or directs the development of utilities used for the monitoring, tuning and analysis of database systems. Stays current on data management technologies and directions.
• Projects long-range requirements for database administration and design in conjunction with other teams in the information systems area.
• Consults with application programmers, system programmers (z/OS & DB2), and end users in troubleshooting and improving application response time and availability. Performs database performance monitoring and analysis and proactively implements needed adjustments.

Required Skills
• Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems related curriculum or equivalent education and related training/work experience
• At least 8 years of experience as a production support DBA.
• Expert knowledge of database theory, logical and physical database design and database applications
• Expert knowledge in the maintenance of large scale databases. Expert knowledge in data access methods, data extraction, migration, and loading processes.
• Knowledge of JCL, OmegaMon, Query Monitor, CA DB2 Tools. REXX knowledge would be beneficial.
