About the Role
As the Manager of Development Assessment, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Development Assessment Department.
In this dynamic position, you will bring your exceptional people leadership and strategic business management skills to lead, inspire, and develop a team that thrives on collaboration and excellence. You will support the Executive Manager City Development by overseeing and leading the department’s daily operations, ensuring the effective management of staff, finances, systems, and assets while cultivating a positive and growth-oriented culture.
Aligned with Council’s Community Strategic Plan, you will lead the creation and implementation of your department’s Business Plan, delivering urban planning expertise, development assessment services, and land development solutions that benefit the Ryde community. Your ability to build meaningful stakeholder relationships will be essential, as you represent the department and Council in forums such as the Sydney North Planning Panel and the Ryde Local Planning Panel.

In addition, you will also have:
Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, or equivalent
Extensive local government experience and understanding of Development Applications, Subdivision Certificates and Construction Certificates
Experience in the management of staff and the planning and coordination of work to meet timelines
Excellent time management and organisational skills
Strong analytical skills with excellent understanding of local and state government planning legislation
Well-developed written communication skills with experience in preparing detailed correspondence, reports and submissions
Excellent verbal communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
Your commencing salary from $182,132.46 to $203,310.65 + Superannuation + leaseback (subject to your experience and qualifications).
