Position Description
Manager- Surgical and Endoscopy Community Partnerships Program
We are looking for a Manager to oversee the Surgical and Endoscopy Community Partnerships Program. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to lead a collaborative and strategic program, at a health-systems level.
As the Manager, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team at SickKids through complex day-to-day clinical operations. You will play a pivotal part in role-modeling, structuring and supporting communication between members of the team, including with external community partners and stakeholders, from front-line to executive level. You will be directly accountable for strategic projects within and related to surgical and endoscopy community partnerships, including leadership in implementing change.
The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and providing input on the program's operational plan- identifying trends, issues and risks. The Manager will support the front-end clinical operations team who triage and refer of suitable surgical and endoscopy cases from the SickKids waitlists to the respective community hospital partner sites. The Manager also collaborates with an Interprofessional Education Specialist, enhancing capacity building for paediatric surgery across the Greater Toronto Area. As the Manager, you will act as the primary connection between the front-end operations and senior leadership, both within SickKids, at Ontario Health, and across the various community hospital partner sites- being a primary driver to achieve the program's strategic goals.
Here's what you'll get to do
People Management:
Provide leadership to the multi-disciplinary team and facilitate the coordination of a range of clinical activities, ensuring effective and appropriate use of resources.
Act as a leader and role model and facilitate communication between members of the multi-disciplinary team, including external provincial partners and stakeholders.
Assist staff with professional development and achievement of program goals aligned with Strategic Directions.
Responsible for all aspects of recruitment, performance management and development of multidisciplinary staff to ensure resources and skill levels are in place to meet program needs.
Clinical Leadership:
Support the clinical team in the resolution of complex and/or sensitive patient and family concerns through the provision of support, information and engagement of multidisciplinary team members, as required.
Provide clinical leadership to ensure the resources and coordinating mechanisms are in place to support an interdisciplinary approach to care.
Responsible for quality care processes, including oversight on the patient and family experience, and leadership in implementing change.
In collaboration with the Director, define relevant and clear program performance indicators, providing leadership in continually improving care delivery and processes.
Lead the overall quality improvement process for assigned program, taking a leadership role to ensure identified risk management issues are followed up and resolved and opportunities for continuous improvement are implemented.
Fiscal Management:
Responsible for monitoring and providing input to the Director and Finance team members on the operating plan and lead the year-end funding coordination between SickKids, Ontario Health and all community hospital partners.
Responsible for reviewing and monitoring the financial reports with the Director.
Acts on opportunities for improved efficiency regarding the utilization of resources.
Here's what you'll need:
5+ years relevant healthcare experience, including 2-3 of leadership experience.
Graduate of a regulated healthcare professional program and registration with a designated college.
Candidates with health care management experience AND a Master's degree in a non-nursing field will also be considered.
Experience managing, coaching and developing others.
Knowledge of budgeting processes and ability to analyze fiscal and patient care data.
Awareness of program planning, standards development and program evaluation.
Strong business acumen; general understanding of business principles and how they apply to the program's operational needs.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and engage constructively with others. Ability to advocate, motivate and influence others to gain their support and commitment.
Demonstrated resilience in a range of complex and demanding situations.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational, problem solving, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills.
Commitment to the professional and organizational vision as it pertains to clinical practice and patient care.
