Job: Mechanical Assembler
Location: Harwood Heights, IL
Shift: 1st!
We are seeking a Mechanical Assembler to join our team, responsible for handling small-volume jobs, often working on different assemblies daily. This role offers variety, involving both small and large mechanical assemblies, following engineered process sheets, drawings, and quality specifications. The Mechanical Assembler will assemble and test mechanical seals and/or aerospace subassemblies while acting as a quality inspector to ensure all parts meet high standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform assembly and sub-assembly of components as assigned.
• Conduct Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP), such as load, vacuum, and flow checks using measuring instruments and testing devices.
• Rework products as necessary, including polishing, cleaning, and replacement of components.
• Identify parts using methods like laser etching or stamping.
• Package finished assemblies per instructions and assist with shipping duties, including transactions in ERP systems.
The role requires flexibility as the assembler will also assist in the shipping department, particularly with international orders. This cross-training requires detailed learning due to the unique demands of aerospace customers.
Qualifications:
• Mechanically inclined with the ability to read blueprints.
• Familiarity with assembly processes and tools such as micrometers, calipers, and drop indicators.
• Physical ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 1+ year of mechanical assembly experience (mechanical seals preferred).
• Experience with GD&T or in highly precise industries (aerospace/medical).
• Exposure to international shipping and QMS systems.
We are open to candidates without direct assembly experience but with a strong mechanical background, such as working as a mechanic. If you are quick to learn, adaptable, and eager to work in a dynamic environment, we encourage you to apply!
