Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing or Science area of study or equivalent
3 to 5 years in a Mechanical Design Engineering/Manufacturing Environment
Consumer products design experience
Previous exposure of NPD (New Product Development)
Experience with 3D CAD and FEA (SolidWorks)
Working knowledge of FMEA, Risk Analysis and tolerance stack ups
Experience with Design for Assembly and Design for Manufacturing techniques

Responsibilities
Manager of Mechanical Engineering and Innovation the Mechanical Engineer II will be responsible for the development, deployment, and execution of the Innovation process for strength and cardio fitness products to ensure a smooth transition from the R&D phase through final prototyping
This role will partner closely with Innovation team and Innovation Product Manager to ensure all aspects of the product design or technical design are optimized for prototyping, quality, and initial costing
The Mechanical Engineer II may work with a third-party manufacturer to determine part specifications and design iterations based on manufacturing capabilities during the prototyping phase
Identification and communication of design intent and design understanding to the industrial design and NPD design teams for them to translate those into marketing and production requirements for the supplier
Ensures reliability, manufacturability and the smooth product transition from the R&D phase to full prototype including understanding of quality and Asia manufacturing
Drives technical designs that may improve ergonomics or customer needs
Understands and works with Sr
Engineers in all activities towards prototype readiness ensuring product reliability and manufacturability
Ensures creation of prototype, through R&D and consumer insights
Attends project reviews and design reviews
Generate project requirements and initiate technical investigations of new potential products
Presents updates at project reviews on prototype readiness and issues
Able to analyze engineering CAD models for prototyping and testability
Drives continuous improvement throughout the Innovation lifecycle

Position Overview:

Requirements
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing or Science area of study or equivalent
Experience
• 3 to 5 years in a Mechanical Design Engineering/Manufacturing Environment
• Consumer products design experience
• Previous exposure of NPD (New Product Development)
• Experience with 3D CAD and FEA (SolidWorks)
• Experience with a variety of materials and processes a plus
• Working knowledge of FMEA, Risk Analysis and tolerance stack ups
• Experience with Design for Assembly and Design for Manufacturing techniques
