Mental Health Practitioner (Mental Health)
Reports to: Quality and Practice Manager
Department: Mental Health Division
Location: Working across several schemes you will spend most of your time working from home but you will have travel to schemes within a certain area . Area covered: Bristol, Birmingham, Coventry, Oxford, Swindon.

As a Mental Health Practitioner, you will play a vital role in our Mental Health Division by utilizing your mental health knowledge and practice experience to provide "wrap around" support to our services. Your work will build the capacity and resilience of our teams, ensuring the highest quality of support delivery across assessment, risk management, recovery interventions, and support approaches.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with scheme managers within supported housing schemes to foster a culture of positive risk-taking and good practice.
• Provide clinical and practice-based knowledge to enhance standards of practice, governance, risk management, and safeguarding.
• Develop and maintain strong partnerships with other services, including primary health care teams and voluntary sectors.
• Support colleagues in reducing risks of secondary trauma, particularly when working with individuals who self-harm.
• Facilitate reflective practice, post-incident debriefing, and training sessions to build team resilience.
• Contribute to mental health recovery training for front-line mental health teams.
• Promote proactive support approaches for individuals who use substances and have mental health issues, ensuring multi-agency awareness and involvement.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
• Formal health and social care qualification permitting registration with a UK professional body (e.g., Registered Social Worker, Registered Occupational Therapist, Registered Mental Health Nurse).
• Significant experience in front-line mental health services, including inpatient or community settings.
• Strong knowledge of mental health conditions, co-occurring conditions, and relevant support and treatment approaches.
• Ability to develop person-centered, recovery-oriented support plans with appropriate risk strategies.
• Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Post-qualifying training in a specialist area (e.g., Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Approved Mental Health Professional).
• Experience in specific mental health practice areas such as forensic pathways, community services, or trauma-informed practice.
