We are Grinding Gear Games, creators of the award-winning dark fantasy Action RPG Path of Exile. We're a world-class studio of more than 180 world-class developers based in Auckland, New Zealand and we're currently expanding the Path of Exile 2 development team.
We seek experienced Narrative Designers to help build and enhance the dark and gritty atmosphere in Path of Exile.
Location: On-site in Henderson, Auckland, New Zealand
Relocation assistance (for the right candidate, if needed)
Full time position - 40 hours a week
The position includes the following duties:
Develop design-related writing such as magical mod names, skill gem names, passive skill names, environmental lore, unique item flavour text, quest text, and character dialogue
Express a firm grasp of gothic horror in an efficient and condensed way as demanded by the ARPG format of Path of Exile
Collaborate with audio engineers, designers and artists to allow them to integrate your designs into Path of Exile.
We are seeking someone with:
1 year of writing work in games or 3 years of work experience in a related field (script writing for TV, comics, etc)
Experience with writing for spoken dialogue
Published/produced works-games, screenplays, stage plays, comics, novels, short stories, articles, videos, or other similar materials
Self-motivation and self-reliance; ability to research and learn new tools quickly
Excellent communications skills, and able to work within a team
Pluses:
Experience with our game, Path of Exile
Portfolio, and/or reel demonstrating relevant artistic skills required.
Must be willing to complete a writing test if requested to do so
