Job Description
New Product Development Engineer to work on all stages of product development from research & development to design and manufacturing, through to installation and final commissioning. The goal is to design, identify vendors/suppliers and develop mechanical / plastic components of innovation and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
• Defining Manufacturing Process: Identify and define the manufacturing process for development of new products.
• Identifying Vendors & Cost Negotiation: Assist in identifying and onboarding of new vendors, ensuring they meet our quality and compliance standards. Manage Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and negotiate with suppliers to achieve cost targets.
• Following up with vendors: Regularly communicate with vendors to follow up on requirement and development.
• Quality Control: Participate in quality control activities, ensuring that all products meet our stringent standards.
• Costing and Analysis: Analyze costs of parts involving various machining processes, including Machine Hour Rate (MHR) calculation and cycle time studies.
• Tooling and Fixtures: Validate costs for tooling, jigs, and fixtures and oversee the ownership of these tools.
• Technical Validation: Confirm technical details by reviewing engineering drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM), and data sheets.
• Supply Chain Support: Collaborate with the supply chain team to ensure business continuity, achieve cost efficiency, and meet capacity targets
Key Requirements:
• Experience in Manufacturing Processes like Casting, Injection Moulding, Die Casting, Sheet Metal, CNC Machining, etc.
• Design and development of sheet metal/ stamping dies, plastic moulds, HPDC and LPDC dies, Hand tools, etc
• Having Knowledge / Hands on experience working with plastics materials like ABS, Nylon, PCABS, PC, PP, etc and rubber materials like silicone, EPDM, TPE, TPR, TPU, PU, etc.
• Design optimization based on manufacturability (DFM), weight optimization and shape optimization
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Proficiency in SAP (MM Module) and MS Office Suite, with expertise in MS Excel.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Experience in supplier capacity planning and development is a plus.
Education:
• Diploma in Tool and Die Making / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Diploma in Plastics Moulding with 2 to 3 years relevant experience
• BE/ BTech Manufacturing Engineering or BE/BTech Mechanical Engineering with 0 to 1 year relevant experience
• Fresh Graduates in BE/ BTech Manufacturing Engineering or BE/BTech Mechanical Engineering with industrial experience (internships)
