About the Role

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Registered Nurse - Patient Transport at Whakatane Hospital. The role enables you to transfer patients for a wide range of reasons, including transfer to and from tertiary hospitals for ongoing care, urgent/emergency transfers, and planned appointments in other centers.

You will be clinically based in our Acute Care Unit (ACU) which comprises ICU, HDU & CCU, ED or inpatient units, enabling you to have access to ongoing education, training, and acute nursing experience. You will also assist in the transfer of acute patients within the hospital and assist in other patient flow and care initiatives when able.

About You

You will have previous patient transport experience, be comfortable travelling in an ambulance, and be physically fit.
You will have an excellent clinical practice record in an acute setting such as ICU, CCU, or ED.
You will have great organisational and communication skills and the ability to work effectively and efficiently.
The Ideal Applicant

The ideal applicant will possess a positive attitude and patient advocacy, ensuring they are a professional and responsible representative of the Bay of Plenty District Health Board (BOPDHB). Some flexibility in hours of work is often required due to the nature of transport work. Some knowledge of Te Reo, Tikanga, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and the principles of Kaupapa Maori is also an asset.
