Job Purpose

To support assessment and interventions in line with principles of Children’s Disability Network Teams.

To work as part of the Children’s Disability Network Team to provide therapeutic services to children and young people (0 -18 years) with a range of complex needs arising from a disability and whom are living within the Community Health Organisation. There will be a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary team working and family centred practice as per the principles of Progressing Disabilities for Children and Young People.

Clinical Duties

Work as a member of an Interdisciplinary TeamBe responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and review of occupational therapy intervention programmesAttend and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure integrated goal setting and support for children/young people and their familiesArrange and carry out duties in a timely manner within settings appropriate to service users and in line with service policy/guidelinesDocument all assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, reports and discharge summaries in accordance with local service and professional standardsMaintain quality standards of practice and participate in quality assurance and clinical audit as appropriatePromote a culture that values equality, diversity and respect in the workplaceRequirements to ensure safe practice and high standards of service deliveryParticipate in teams, communicating and working in co-operation with other team membersDemonstrate the ability to evaluate information and make effective decisions in relation to service user care

Education & Training

Partake in career and personal development planning. Maintain own professional development and competenceParticipate in teams as appropriate, communicating and working in co-operation with other team membersProvide education and training to parents, carers and schools staff supporting the child to participate in their environments fullyAttend mandatory training

Essential Criteria

Hold a qualification in Occupational Therapy approved by the Association of Occupational Therapists of Ireland at CORUDemonstrate competence and capability of undertaking the duties attached to the officeExcellent interpersonal, communication skills and strong command of EnglishProvide proof of Statutory Registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU or eligible for registrationMaintain annual registration on the appropriate register at CORU
