The Oil Sands Financial & Performance Analysts (AIT) are members of the Oil Sands finance team, supporting the accounting, management information analysis and financial reporting process to ensure costs for operated and non-operated assets are recorded/reported timely and accurately.
You will have the unique opportunity to join a busy and rewarding team involving a broad interface across finance and business areas. The role will help you to learn foundational skills in operations/management accounting, cost variance analysis and system applications. You will also gain industry knowledge with focus on Oil Sands operations.
Job location: Calgary, Alberta
Shift schedule: 5x2 - Monday to Friday, 8 hours/day

Key Accountabilities:
Prepare and maintain daily/weekly cost reports and related templates for business units (e.g. diesel data update, Labor, Equipment & Materials (LEM’s) estimate, accounting data pull, etc.)
Support the month end closing processes such as booking of journal entries (e.g. LEMs, intercompany eliminations, prepaid property tax/insurance and escalation fee payment)
Support LEMs trending and operating cost variance analysis by working closely with operation and supply chain teams
Assist in coordinating the business development of budgets & forecasts
Compilation of financial & volume metric data for Quarter end analysis
Preparation of balance sheet account reconciliations
Perform end user test for Oil Sands Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) project
Assist with data compilation and review for JV audits
What you Bring to the Role:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline
Currently enrolled in, or eligible to enroll in CPA Professional Education Program
Familiarity with and understanding of:
Microsoft Office, in particular Excel
E1 (formerly JDEdwards), Open Invoice, Essbase and Maximo software are considered an asset
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
A team player with strong interpersonal skills and effective communication skills
Experience in the oil and gas industry considered an asset
