Job description
As a Painter and Decorator at The Bedford College group, you will be based at Bedford College Cauldwell Street Campus and will cover all sites. Your role will involve providing a high standard painting and decorating service across all sites to maintain the facilities" aesthetic appeal. You will conduct condition surveys, plan and organize works, prepare and apply materials, ensure clean and safe work areas, and comply with Health and Safety regulations. Additionally, you will undertake general building work, respond to emergencies, attend training events, and maintain professional development.
You will be responsible for attending other campuses for team management and meetings, as well as supporting and participating in open days. It is essential to promote safeguarding, equality, and diversity, follow health and safety requirements, and participate in training and development to fulfill the statutory duties of the role.
To qualify for this position, you should hold qualifications and training such as Level 2 NVQ, Level 2 Apprenticeship, Asbestos Awareness, COSHH training, and Emergency First Aid qualification. You should have at least 3 years of painting experience, be familiar with working procedures and guidelines, possess basic DIY skills, and have experience working with young people. Strong organizational skills, effective communication, IT proficiency, teamwork abilities, initiative, positive relationships, self-motivation, and the capability to work with diverse individuals are essential for this role.
Attributes including reliability, punctuality, a flexible approach, the ability to work at all sites, a full driving license, and vehicle access are highly valued. You should also be comfortable working around young people and be effective in diverse environments.
