Overview
The Paralegal plays a crucial role in providing support to attorneys, coordinating with clients, and assisting with legal research and document management.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, and contracts.
• Conduct legal research to support case preparation and proceedings.
• Manage and organize case files and documents for easy retrieval.
• Communicate with clients to gather information and provide case updates.
• Assist with case analysis and drafting of case summaries for attorneys.
• Prepare and coordinate deposition and trial exhibits.
• Review and draft correspondence, reports, and legal documents.
• Organize and maintain reference materials, such as statutes, regulations, and case law.
• Assist in the preparation of legal arguments, applications, and appeals.
• Coordinate with external agencies and experts for case-related matters.
• Manage and maintain attorney calendars and schedule appointments.
• Assist in the preparation and filing of legal documents with courts and administrative bodies.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to ethical standards.
• Handle administrative tasks such as billing, time entries, and expense reporting.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or related field.
• Certification from an accredited paralegal program.
• Proven experience as a paralegal or legal assistant.
• Proficiency in legal research methods and resources.
• Strong knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work under tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in using legal research tools and software.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Understanding of the rules of professional conduct and legal ethics.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
• Familiarity with e-discovery and document management systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and legal software applications.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
• Adherence to confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive information.
