We’re looking for a bright, dedicated person to come on board and help us source the advertising that’s the lifeblood of Poderation. Working directly with the founder, you’ll be the very start of what we’ll build into a full ad sales team!
The Role
Our Advertising Sales Assistant will be responsible for lead generation and appointment setting to help secure advertising deals with sponsors across the myriad worlds of nerdiness. Working directly with Poderation’s founder, you’ll be jumping market research and email outreach, all the while building the skills you’ll need to succeed in the world of media. In particular, we’re looking for someone to handle the following:
• Lead Generation
Poderation is a business that thrives not just on advertising, but relevant advertising. You’ll be looking for key decision-makers at companies within our nerdy niche, and handling the initial outreach via email.
• Appointment Setting
It’s rare to seal a deal all the way via email – you need that personal touch. You’ll be booking meetings with interested leads into our founder’s diary, and sitting in on those meetings to learn more about the sales process and build your skillset.
• CRM Management
A sales team is only as good as the system that supports it – as a secondary responsibility, you’ll be working to help make sure the records in our CRM system are up-to-date and accurate as they can be.
The Person
We’ll be honest here; this is a part-time freelance role at a startup company, with a starting workload of roughly one day a week – we’re not expecting you to suddenly throw every waking hour into all things Poderation. At least, not yet. But there are a few qualities we’d like to see in our ideal candidate:
• A Different Sort of Thinker
Working in nerdy spaces means putting on a different sort of hat (sometimes literally!) than traditional sales, or even advertising, roles. We’re looking for someone who can take approaches as novel as the worlds some of our advertisers come up with, who can suss out the products that’ll really appear to the sort of people to whom “is it ethical eat a person that’s been turned into a chicken?” is a serious question at their tabletop.
• Results-Driven & Always Seeking More
As a Sales Assistant, your results are directly connected to how much you’ll earn from the role – it’s best for all of us if you’re interested in earning as much as possible. We’re method-agnostic – we want you to develop your own style of sales that suits you – but we want people who don’t have the word “enough” in their vocabulary.
• Ambitions to Grow
The Sales Assistant will be the first and most integral member of our Advertising team, and as the business grows will come to head up one of the core elements of Poderation as a business. We’re looking for an assistant now, but eventually they’ll be far, far more; we want someone with ambitions to match.
• Nerdy as Sin
You can’t sell podcasts for nerds if you’re not at least a little nerdy yourself. We’re looking for someone who’s a nerd and proud, and enjoys both what they’re selling, and who they’re selling it to!

For every meeting you book that your leads attend, we’ll pay you a flat rate – no questions, just results.
• Commission on Closed Sales
If your appointments lead to a closed deal for Poderation, you’ll receive a generous commission on what Poderation makes from the deal!
• In on the Ground Floor
Poderation is going places – as one of the first people working with the business, you’ll be set to take yourself to the skies with us!
