We’re on the lookout for a Payroll Advisor who’s not just great with numbers, but great with people too. Based at our Head Office in Penrose, Auckland, this vital role sits at the heart of our operations, ensuring our waged and salaried employees are paid correctly, on time, and in line with legislation and company policies.
About the Role
Reporting to our Payroll Manager, you'll take ownership of key payroll functions — from processing and compliance to employee support and reporting. You’ll use your expertise to resolve payroll issues, advise on entitlements and deductions, and help drive process improvements that make a real difference to our team.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage end-to-end payroll processing for salaried and waged staff.
Ensure payroll accuracy and compliance with legal and company standards.
Provide clear, helpful advice to employees on payslips, tax, allowances, benefits, and more.
Resolve payroll discrepancies and handle employee queries with professionalism and empathy.
Generate accurate and timely payroll reports.
Support the continuous improvement of payroll systems and procedures.
What You’ll Bring:
Proven experience in payroll processing, including time and attendance systems.
Solid understanding of payroll legislation and best practices.
Proficiency in payroll/HR software – DataPay and SuccessFactors are a big plus.
High attention to detail and accuracy under pressure.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Integrity, discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
A collaborative approach, with the confidence to work independently when needed.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business, or a related field (preferred).
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a payroll role with time and attendance responsibilities.
Why Join Us?
At New Zealand Couriers, we pride ourselves on being a team that delivers — for our customers, our people, and our communities. Join a supportive, tight-knit payroll team where your skills will be valued, and your career will be supported. This is your chance to play a key role in one of New Zealand’s most trusted logistics companies.
