Ensure compliance with relevant employment laws and internal policies (especially in the U.S.)
Own the onboarding process for U.S. and Canadian hires, including preparing for new hire orientation, enrolling pay and benefits, scheduling required training, liaising with managers, and coordinating equipment shipment
Prepare offer letters, employment contracts, and other recruitment-related documentation for U.S. and Canadian hires
Manage personnel administration tasks including onboarding, organizational changes, promotions, and offboarding (both documentation and systems updates)
Maintain data accuracy across all People systems and platforms
Support employee engagement initiatives such as social events, surveys, recognition programs, and internal communications
Assist with internal People communications to keep staff informed and connected
Support People Team projects related to DEI, wellbeing, charity programs, performance management, and lifecycle process improvements
Proactively identify gaps or inconsistencies in People processes and recommend improvements
Research and problem-solve when challenges arise, escalating thoughtfully when needed but showing strong initiative
What we’re looking for
2–3+ years of experience in People Operations, HR, or employee lifecycle support
Familiarity with U.S. and Canadian employment standards and People practices
A proactive, problem-solving mindset: comfortable troubleshooting and recommending solutions independently
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through
Ability to prioritize, self-manage, and pivot when needed in a remote work environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an employee-first mindset
Discretion, integrity, and sensitivity when handling confidential information
Nice to Have
Experience supporting a distributed, remote-first workforce
Familiarity with HRIS systems
Exposure to HR compliance tasks such as audits, workplace postings, and records maintenance
Light project management or process improvement experience

3 additional BigHand days off between Christmas & New Year
Wellbeing benefits including medical, dental, vision, online wellbeing programs & webinars, access to online therapy and Employee Resource Groups (ERG)
